Five Hot Beverages For Chilly Winters

In cold chilly winter days, all we want is to feel cozy and warm. To snuggle up in layers of blankets and avoid going out. We all want to keep ourselves as warm as possible and avoid those continuous trips to the bathroom. When the furry coat or blanket is not keeping you warm enough, you need a hot drink! What’s best than being all cozied up in your blanket, watching TV with a cup of hot chocolate in your hand, plus the point is that the hot cup keeps your hand warm because it’s the hands that are always out there in the cold. As much as I love hot chocolate, I know that you can’t drink it every day, so here are some other hot beverages along with the hot chocolate recipe that you can make at home easily, and they will keep you warm in the cold chilly winters. Have a look and see which one you want to try first.

Hot chocolate with toasted marshmallows

You can take your hot chocolate game to the next level by adding toasted marshmallows. What on earth could be better than hot chocolate with toasted marshmallows, it’s not difficult at all to make, will just take five minutes. Heat some milk in the saucepan but do not bring it to boil. When bubbles start to form, turn off the stove. Cut a bar of chocolate into pieces and melt it in the microwave, it will take 30 to 40 seconds. Add the melted chocolate in the warmed milk and let it mix.  You can toast the marshmallows in the toaster oven and add in the top of your hot chocolate. Voila! Delicious hot chocolate with marshmallows is ready.

The cold buster tea

You must make this tea when you feel you are cold and about to have flu, it always works. The ingredients you need are one cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, dash cinnamon, dash turmeric, dash nutmeg and freshly ground ginger. Heat the milk in a saucepan and add all the ingredients and mix well with a whisk to make it frothier. Turmeric and ginger have anti-inflammatory properties, and they keep your body warm while nutmeg balances your blood sugar level. You can add sugar or vanilla extract if you want it to taste better. The cold buster tea as I call it, is a very healthy drink to keep yourself warm and fight the cold and flu that comes with the arrival of winters.

Hot ginger tea

Ginger has a lot of health benefits. It helps you fight off a cold, helps you lose weight as it promotes good digestion. If you have osteoarthritis, then ginger tea is best for you to get relief from the pain. It has anti-tussive properties which means it can relieve coughing, and I hate the coughing that won’t stop even when it makes you out of breath. The ginger tea is straightforward to make; all you need is ginger and water. Take at least 3 cups of water if you want one cup of ginger tea, as the more it boils, the better it is. Add some ginger in it and leave it on low flame until the water is reduced, and you see a dark yellow colour. You can use a spoon of honey if you want to it to be a bit sweet, honey is also very good for health, and I suggest avoiding adding sugar.

Coffee

Coffee is the beverage we drink regardless of the weather, but in winter, a cup of hot coffee is what we long for. You can make a very good coffee at home even when you don’t have a coffee maker. I think single served coffee makers are overpriced, and they cost you twice the amount of brewing coffee yourself. If you are a coffee lover and you don’t have a pricey shiny coffee maker, don’t worry at all. When you don’t have time to brew coffee, you can just buy instant coffee sachets and make delicious coffee. Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of coffee in a cup and add a tablespoon of cold water to mix it. It’s always better to mix the coffee with cold water as cold water mixes the coffee well. Then you can add hot water but leave some room for milk if you don’t like black coffee. Mix it well. You can add some sugar or cinnamon if you want, or you can whip cream on the top to make it fancy delicious coffee.
