What are some ways to help improve your skin?

Many of us are obsessed with achieving a dewy, flawless complexion, but it doesn’t all come easy. From acne and dryness to eczema and dermatitis, nearly half of the UK population will experience a skin condition during any 12 months and each condition comes with its fair share of side-effects on our well-being.

Poor skin can give us low self-esteem, and even illnesses such as depression in some severe cases. But with the endless products and conflicting advice circulating, it’s hard to know which way to turn when it comes to improving it.

Here is our guide to the world of skincare, where you’ll find some tried-and-true tips to help you unlock your skin’s full potential.

Maintain a Consistent Skincare Routine

Consistency is key when it comes to your skin and developing a routine that works for you is where the magic happens. While it might be tempting to hop on the most recent skincare trends, not every recommended product will work for you.

We’re talking cleanse, tone, moisturise and SPF – then repeat! You also don’t want to forget targeted treatments like serums, eye creams and night balms. For those times when you have a breakout, pimple patches are your new best friend when it comes to blemishes.

Stay Hydrated

We’ve heard it a million times, but it’s true – water is essential for healthy skin. It helps to flush out toxins, giving your complexion a natural glow so aims for at least eight glasses a day to keep it plump and hydrated. It also helps with your skin’s elasticity and reduces your chances of developing wrinkles.

If you’re not great at keeping up with your recommended water intake, invest in hydrating skincare products like hyaluronic acid serum.

Use Sun Protection

Whether it’s sunny or cloudy, slap on that sunscreen. We’re talking at least SPF 30, daily. Sun damage is a major culprit behind premature aging, wrinkles and even skin cancer. So, protect your skin, and it’ll thank you later.

Eat A Balanced Diet

Your skin is a reflection of your overall health, and we already know that we are what eat. Fruits, veggies, lean proteins and whole grains are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that nourish your skin from within.

Try to cut back on processed foods, sugary drinks and excessive caffeine, as they can dehydrate your skin and contribute to inflammation.
