Norfolk Pumpkin Patches: White House Farm PYO – Halloween 2017

As we continue our tour of Norfolk pumpkin patches we headed over to White House Farm PYO on Saturday to check out their patch. The patch had just opened and there was a real lack of orange, but it was still a fun patch to explore and have fun in.

White House Farm PYO is a lovely place to visit; with an onsite farm shop, butchers, and cafe. There are also several local independent businesses based onsite.

Currently the entrance I am familiar with using, along the same road as Blue Boar Tesco, is closed so you have to enter the farm via the entrance through the new Manor Park estate, opposite the park and ride. Parking is free and there is plenty of it.

To access the pumpkin patch we went through the cafe and farm shop entrance, and out of the back door. The patch is just a short walk away, with an excellent muddy puddle along the route – exactly the kind of thing we look for on a day out!

The pumpkin patch is very much in its natural state which is lovely, but do make sure you and your children are wearing appropriate footwear and clothing as there are a lot of nettles and other sting-ey things. The pumpkins are still attached to you will need a little muscle or something sharp to pick one. Wheel barrows are available to help you carry your pumpkins back from the field.

Pumpkins range from £1-6 depending on how large you want yours, and you can pay by cash or card which is handy. The farm shop is full of lovely locally produced goodies too – we grabbed some delicious apple juice and some farm made cherry jam.

White House Farm is open 10-5 Tuesday to Saturday and 10-4 Sunday (closed Mondays), so a lovely place for a midweek visit if you’ve got a spare afternoon. Hopefully as we get closer to Halloween the field will fill with a bit more orange, but actually I think there’s something quite spooky about the pumpkins whilst they’re green.

Here’s a few more photos from our afternoon at White House Farm. If you’re looking for more pumpkins check out the list of my favourite Norfolk Pumpkin Patches!
