The Christmas Tag

I really love the festive period. I’m obsessed with creating new traditions for us to do every year and I love the thought of Dil continuing them on with his own children. Here’s how we do Christmas.. Thanks for the tag Amy & Tots

What’s your favourite christmas movie?

I’d have to say The Santa Clause with Tim Allen, it reminds me of watching movies with my dad! Or maybe The Grinch

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Only when I was tiny. I was born in America and had my first few Christmases in Pennsylvania so I’m sure they were very white!

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

Usually with friends and family, we spent last year at a very good friend’s house and this year we’ll be at another friend’s

What is your favourite Christmas song?

Is it cheesy if I say Mariah Carey? Can’t resist a singalong to that. Dil absolutely loves Jingle Bells though, we sing that 4009 times a day

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

My mum always let me open one present on Christmas Eve as a kid. Now Dil has his Christmas Eve box and there’s usually something to open in that – a small toy, a book, DVD, Christmas PJs and a new cup!

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Without cheating?! Umm… Rudolph, Comet, Dasher, Prancer, Vixen, how many are there?

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Real! We always had a fake one growing up and I hated it. I love the excitement of going to pick up a tree after seeing Father Christmas, and you can’t beat the smell

What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?

This is ridiculous but my favourite thing is the Iceland mini eclairs that come out with the party food around Christmas time, so delicious! And I love candy canes.  I really dislike mince pies and most of the traditional Christmas stuff!

Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?

Definitely give. I’m an excellent present buyer and I love watching someone open something I know they’ll be thrilled with. There’s no better feeling

What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

Oh that’s a hard one. Nothing really stands out to me, I usually get Selfridges vouchers from my parents then get to have loads of fun spending them, but this year they gave me a laptop to help with my blogging!

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Lapland definitely. I’d love to take Dil one year

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

I really enjoy wrapping, I spend weeks agonising over colour schemes and ribbon choices and I think I’m pretty good at it

Most memorable Christmas moment?

Our Random Acts of Kindness Advent calendar is something I’ll remember forever. Hopefully we’ll do it again next year but I’ll always remember starting for the first time, especially since we made it onto the news!

What made you realise the truth about Santa?

I was 8, we had just moved here from America and we were staying in such a tiny house that I was sleeping on the floor in my parents room. My dad woke me up getting back into bed after putting the presents out. I was gutted but I think I got over it pretty quickly

What makes the holidays special for you?

Having children around! Christmas is so much fun now there are little people around to share the excitement. Dil is 3 now so it’s the first year he’s understood the magic of it, he’s been asking all month if Santa is here yet! Next year will be even better I’m sure
