I’ve mentioned many times before that we are really big fans of reading. I think it’s really important to encourage young children to have a passion for reading, because books are the gateway to so many other things. Books open up new worlds – worlds made up of far away lands and magical places, worlds full of incredible characters and exciting stories. They also introduce us to huge amounts of information and knowledge, and can help us spark an interest and discover more about millions of topics. We enjoy so many books; current favourites at the moment include fiction books about animals and the human body, funny books about likeable little characters and books with bigger messages and important meanings. We love some of the new ones we’ve discovered, and we love plenty of the well loved and well read classics too.

One of the most exciting things that can happen is for one of your favourite books to come to life, and so Dil and I were delighted to find out that one of our favs – What the Ladybird Heard by the brilliant Julia Donaldson, was being adapted into a live performance.

What the Ladybird Heard Live is an interactive performance aimed at ages 3+, full of engaging puppetry and fun music to sing along too. They have been touring the country, and they will be in Norwich at our local Playhouse 3-8th July. We recently went to see Sarah and Duck’s Big Top Birthday at the Playhouse and Dil really enjoyed the excitement and buzz of a live show, so I was immediately excited to go. It looks like a brilliant show, check out the video below for a sneak peek.

Norwich Playhouse have very kindly invited us down to check out the show next month, and they’ve also give us some great prizes to give away to two of you! Enter the first competition below to win two tickets to see What The Ladybird Heard Live at 11am on Saturday 7th July at Norwich Playhouse, and enter the second to win What The Ladybird Heard picture book and CD from the show. Feel free to enter both!
