Allergen Free Valentine’s Day Biscuits #‎FreeFromValentine‬

I say it every year but I love Valentine’s Day. I can’t shake the love I have for all things pink and heart shaped. Quite frankly any excuse to cover things in pink glitter or cut everything in to hearts is okay with me. Today I wanted to share some perfect Valentine’s Day recipes that are free from a lot of the top allergens.

When we make biscuits I usually use Our Favourite Biscuit recipe, which is already dairy, egg and soya free. These are brilliant for little ones to make, and they can cut them into whatever shape they’d like and ice them in many different ways. You can even cut a hole into half of your batch and add a little jam to turn them into delicious jammy dodger type biscuits, shown here along with some more of my really simple Valentine’s Day baking ideas.

You can find more of my dairy free recipes here, but this week we wanted to adapt our usual biscuit recipe to make it free from gluten too.

Gluten Free Biscuit Recipe

For these biscuits we used the same quantities as the original recipe.

But we also added a few splashes of alternative milk as the mix tends to be a little drier. Combine the ingredients and rub together with your hands until it becomes a dough, add a little more milk if you need to.

Roll out to about 5mm thick and cut out in to your desired shaped. Obviously we picked love hearts.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 8-10 minutes, until golden brown.

Once cool you’re free to decorate them in any way you wish. You could use melted chocolate, rolled fondant cut into shapes, or icing made with icing sugar and a little water. We decided to go crazy with some coloured icing (we use these amazing gel paste food colours from Wilton and these colour strands from Tesco which are allergen free. Scroll down to see how our Valentine’s biscuits came out, and how much fun Dil had making them, and then check out some more #‎FreeFromValentine‬ recipes from the Free From Gang.
