Am I safe to say the C-word now? Christmas is fast approaching now, festive tunes are playing in shops and sparkly lights are appearing up and down the high street. Little ones are writing their lists to Santa and Christmas shopping is on most people’s minds, but where do you head for the best gifts at the best prices? It’s so hard to find fun or interesting gifts for all of your loved ones, and sometimes the pressure to spend £1000s is really overwhelming.
#SDFiverChallenge
When BritMums got in touch with a £5 Christmas Challenge I was excited – grabbing a few bargains definitely appeals to me, but when I heard the challenge was with Sportsdirect.com I was a little sceptical. Trainers for a fiver? Football boots or tracksuit bottoms – that’s what they sell right? I wasn’t sure how many suitable Christmas gifts I’d be able to find there, but I was willing to give it a go and I’m so glad I did!
For the #sdfiverchallenge I was given £30 credit to use on Sportsdirect.com and asked to find presents for kids, family, friends, teachers, neighbours, whoever I needed to buy for, that were £5 or less. At this point I was still pretty convinced I’d be giving them all trainers and tennis rackets, but I was up for the challenge. I headed to the Sportsdirect.com Christmas page and was surprised and impressed immediately. Christmas jumpers, toys and games, cosy pyjamas and homeware gifts popped up. Maybe I was wrong about Sports Direct…
First up was Dil, who has been asking for games and puzzles this year. I was surprised to find tons of games on the website, loads for £5 and under. I grabbed 3 that I know he’ll love – Disney Cars Pop Up game for £4.99, Monkey Tree and Dinosaur Operation (it looks like these two are sold out now – sorry!). I was also really tempted by Splatter Face, Raging Bull Rodeo and 3D Snakes and Ladders – all for just a fiver each.
I also grabbed him a Cars bath puzzle which looks like lots of fun, also available in Disney Princess which I think I might have to go back for, along with this Penguins of Madagascar puzzle which is only £4.50.
Next I had a look in the homeware section, and I was really surprised by how many lovely things they had – most of it I had no idea Sports Direct sold! So many lovely cushions, home decorations, kitchen accessories, they even have wedding items!
I grabbed this lovely rose gold fruit bowl for a family friend, and a really sweet welcome mat (this one I’m going to have to keep I think – oops! It seems to now be sold out but check out this mat instead, only £3.50!). I think I need to do another order and get a few of these ceramic house tea light holders because my mum will love them, as well as a very Instagram-able metal basket.
Once my order arrived I was really happy with the quality of the items and the delivery speed, and I’m very sure that everyone will be very happy when they open their gifts on Christmas morning. Can’t wait to see Dil’s face when he opens all the games that he’s desperate for!
Over all I was really impressed (and surprised) by the range of gifts offered on Sportdirect.com, and the competitive prices too. I’ve managed to tick quite a few presents off of my list, and I’m already filling my basket with more bits. I don’t think I’ll ever look at Sports Direct in the same way, and it’ll be top of my list from now on when I’m present shopping (or just looking for myself…)
